Island Records Names New Chairman and President

Hollywood, April 27, 1998 - Prominent sound design and editorial company, Sound Dogs Inc., launches a massive global sound effects library on the world wide web, http://www.sounddogs.com. Users can now access this exclusive library of 35,000 SFX, previously never released, recorded from all over the world, and created for major motion pictures.

Sound Dogs Inc., located on the Columbia / Tri Star Pictures lot in Los Angeles, California began this effort in 1991, by continually recording and mastering a digital sound effects library for use on their Avid and Digidesign audio workstations. The result is an amazing culmination of 136 Gigabits of sound, which can be down loaded over the Internet, with selectable sound file types and qualities.

This online creative audio source was designed to service all classes of sound editors: web designers, multimedia programmers, musicians, home-video Directors, film students, independent film makers, radio engineers, TV, video game makers, Picture Editors, and Film Sound Editors. SFX sound file parameters (type, bit rate, sample rate, length) are user definable, thus determining the cost. Distribution is free via the Internet (FTP), and Sound Dogs also ships on various mediums via standard delivery services.

"Consumers will no longer purchase CD libraries (macro-sales) for thousands of dollars, and only use a small portion of the sounds. Sound Dogs offers micro-sales, you purchase only what you need," says Rob Nokes, Technical Director and one of the conceptual designers of the site. "The sound files are delivered immediately to the end user, exactly how they need them, ready for use on any digital audio workstation or computer platform."

Bob Grieve, a reputable Hollywood Sound Supervisor, is convinced that Editors will not want to go back to CD libraries after they have received Sound Dogs' sound files via FTP downloading. "There is no loading, patching, naming, or cleaning of the effects. They simply show up in your computer, with the proper sound file format and sample rate youâve chosen. If you have a high-speed data line, you're in SFX library heaven".
